Replacing the km guage cluster on my 99XJ
My 99 Cherokee Sport, which I've been driving and working on for 7 months now (too busy for a build thread just yet), was purchased by me from a man in Canada.
So the cluster is in kilometers. It doesn't bother me anymore, except that when I drive anything else I instinctively look below the miles and at the km, because I'm used to looking below my km and at the miles, ya feel me?
I just really want to put in a normal cluster because I found one with mileage close to mine, and have been meaning to replace it.
My question is: Do I also have to replace the computer to make the mileage go up in miles as I drive, instead of kilometers? I would think it would be more than just a cluster swap.
Because 104,500 miles looks way better than 168588 km. Especially if I upgrade to a Limited in the spring.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Same year same model same trim package? they should just just be a remove and replace. The computer doesn't look for actual "Miles" or "Kilometers" but revolutions of the tail shaft and converts that to a reading on the cluster. Give it a try and let us know.
As a side note I don't understand why you are ther only country in world that still uses Imperial measurement (meaning old British) I mean even your military is metric.
And now this is me ducking for cover as the flame war starts! LOL

Went to the junkyard last week, popped out a cluster and replaced mine...WHA-LA! Works perfectly. Doesnt seem like its calibrated as well as the original. The KM Cluster was right on and the new one is about 4mph slow. Damn 31's. Not that upset tho, the Jeep did lose a couple thousand miles in the process...
