Default Air/fuel problem?

I have an 87 4.0 XJ and when I take a hard right and try to stomp on it, it bogs badly like a bad MAF on a newer style car. If I keep trying to gun it while taking a hard right, the intake starts making a popping sound. Idk what it could be, MAP maybe?

Has anyone else had this problem? Its only on hard right turns, left turns are fine. MAP goin out? fuel injectors need replacing? If anyone can chime in that would be great. Better than the "keep throwing $100 bills at your Jeep till its fixed" method haha

I'm guessing there's a split in the hose between the tank pickup and your fuel pump.

Of my Tips in the link below, how many have you done?

My dad had one of those little Datsun "Honey Bees" Remember them? It happened that the engine lost all ground, EXCEPT, the steel throttle cable. You guessed it. Once trying to start it, it vaporized the throttle cable.

Maybe you are loosing ground when you turn. Clamp one end of a jumper to the engine and the other to battery negative, try it and see....(or do Cruisers #5)

18210-H6200 was the part number. Worked as Parts Manager at a Datsun dealer back in those days. Very common.

Cruiser - You mean the rubber hose inside the tank? Ive replaced the pump motor before along with that hose. Also replaced all rubber fuel lines underneath for a maintenance measure. As far as your tips, so far Ive only done the C-101 cleaner and the valve cover mod. Ill be doing the big 3 upgrade soon.

Small world! I sold that car to "Easy" a harp player. He's been in the Redding area the last 20 years, but moved here, I just saw him at the mailboxes 20 minutes ago. (no longer driving the Datsun)

I just did the refreshing of the dipstick tube ground point and that helped a lot! I think I should be good after I do the big 3 upgrade. Plus I found that my ground terminal on the batt was slightly loose.

Yeah it is. I didn't realize how many electrical components were grounded to the dipstick. The big 3 is definitely in the near future. By any chance do you know what the amperage is on the alternator. I wanna use bigger wire to the alternator too but theres a fusible link in it.

You want to use a 150 amp ANL fuse.
