98 xj doesnt blow COLD, just mild cold

bypassed the low pressure switch to leave the compressor on CONSTANT as a test, and it didnt get as cold as my other 98 xj

so i know the low pressure switch isnt the culprit, and i know the clutch isnt either...(did the clutch shims 8yrs ago, and today with it on CONSTANT, the cold just isnt there)

so the logical next thing is its low on refrigerant??

 

Have you check the A/C pressures , the system could be low on Freon .

 

Yep, get a set of gauges from HF, I get my freon from WM.

I have a slow leak somewhere, I have to top off the freon about every 6 weeks to keep the AC cold. Not worth the worry or labor to find and fix, yet.

Easy to do, and the cost per can is under $5. Never takes a can so I can get about 3 to 4 months out of a can but I run AC about 9 months out of the year.

I had the same issue with mine not blowing too cold. I did notice that my compressor would click on, then off about every minute. My tech told me it was low on Freon. I didn't fix it and just took it out as I don't really use it anyways lol
