Default air conditioning is posessed....

does anyone else have a posessed air conditioner? whenever i have it on max ac or any setting it stops blowing out the front vents and starts blowing out the defrost vents on top. it will switch back and forth randomly. just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they did to correct it before i break out my tools.
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First thought is a vacuum leak. Does it do it say when there is a heavier load on the engine, such as a WOT acceleration? On the Pass side of the bumper there is a vacuum canister, it holds vacuum for high load situations, when vacuum would drop, so follow the line to it and see if it has a small crack. In the dash there is a vacuum actuator that moves the blend door, check this. Check the back of the HVAC panel for anything out of place.

Also don't forget to check the lines themselves on mine not only was the ball destroyed from an impact on mine but I also had a hard vacuum line to it the was also cracked in multiple spots.

Where would someone order new vacuum lines?

Make sure to check them first, might just be a single line. Spray starting fluid while the engine is running, if you hit a break or crack the sound of the engine will change.

And you can get new lines at auto zone, advanced, or O'reillys, just cut to fit. I think mine came with around 3 foot of line, but they should have some longer than that.

vacuum leack will cause constant defrost ,switching back and forth is loss of vacuum then vacuum returing issue
