Cap/plug the 2 tubes/nipples sticking out of firewall (evaporator) and cap/plug the 2 condenser tubes (finned unit in front of rad). Everything between the evap/cond (compressor, dryer, liquid line/orifice tube, rubber hose manifold) can be removed and re-used later.
Negative, my bad, dryer and orifice tube can be removed but should NOT be reused.

I had to put an AC bypass pulley in my 2000 XJ (4.0) in the Napa parking lot yesterday. Compressor was seized up and obliterated my belt. Super easy to do and will keep the jeep rolling until I can put a new compressor on it. I pushed the compressor back out of the way (without discharging it) until I can save up to put a new one on it.
