Can you even get one of these?? has anyone ever used one of these?? It is a 4.0 I6.

What year jeep? I work at napa we cant get this for 97 up jeeps 95 an older only

i used the bypas pulley from a 1998 grand cherokee n mine. had the modify the bracket a lil bit to bring the pulley forward in line with the others but it works great.

Thanks keith, I have a napa here in town. mine is a 95. gonna get rid of it, cuz it don't work, the compressor is starting to make noise, and in the summer i like to run with my windows down.

Again why by-pass it??? I just pull the relay out so when I turn on the "AC" it only runs the extra fan...

I am going to remove all the wiring and hoses that I dont need. I dont need the extra clutter and weight.

My 87 did not come with A/C so it has the OEM bracket and pulley.
It mounts to the same bracket as the A/C compressor.

Spyderjeep, Pulling the relay will not keep the compressor from seizing.

Here is the idler pulley setup.
Its a little different than the one on my 87. The 87 Idler uses two long bolts that go in Horizontally instead of 4 bolts from the top.


Heres a picture of the engine in pieces when I bought the money pit.
you can see what the OEM bracket and pulley look like bottom left of the image.

Call it peace of mind. That old compressor can seize and chew right through a belt. The replacement can also seize, but whats the difference in cost and size/weight of the two parts?

If the OP's compressor is already making noise, I'd think its about to go south real soon.
