Air busted
My 98 XJ is having A/C issues. I replaced the compressor (which was not working at all), and all l get is still not cool air.
I just bought this little gem from a friend who told me "everything works". Which l understand , on a truck of this age is a possible , non working unit.
But l have never had this kind if trouble before. I usually replace the compressor , add more refrigerant and shazam , it works.
So now that l've worked that magic and still have hot air. Where do l look next.
I'm the kind of guy that needs that cool air break after a long hot day on the job. So l need help fast. Temps. are climbing into the 90's and so is my boiling point. HELP?

Did you do a full vacuum of the system before you put in refrigerant? You can't just replace the condenser and add refrigerant. At a minimum, you haver to evacuate all of the air in the system, make sure it doesn't leak and then add the proper amount of r-134 and PAG oil unless the compresser came with oil in it already. IF you don't have a set of gauges and a vacuum pump, you'll have to go to a shop. I invested in some gauges and a vacuum pump and it has paid for itself many times over already being able to diagnose AC problems across vehicles and ensuring the system is working correctly.

Thank you for that wealth of information. I knew there HAD to be more to it that l didn't know. As far as the oil coming in the compressor...
sadly l have to admit that as l was carrying it to the pay out counter of the local u-pull , l spilled it all over me. DERP!!!
So if you can also tell me what kind of oil and how much l will need l will be one step closer to the cool breeze that l miss tremendously.
Thank you again. I have a set of A/C gauges and a vacuum pump on the way.
