So i bought a 98 jeep cherokee sport last week. I tried to put my alpine radio from my old car into my new jeep. The radio positivily works btw...anyways i put the radio in my new jeep, it powers on but no sound at all. Ive put in several radios so im kinda lost with this one. I looked it up and decided that its probably a factory amp that i have to bypass. So that lead me to cut out the airbag sensor under the drivers seat. yea so turns out thats not the factory amp..So if anybody knows if my jeep has a factory amp somewhere, not under the back seat, already looked...or if anybody knows whats going wrong that would be cool

 

Factory amps are under the rear seat....if its not there you more than likely dont have one, plus it should say "infinity" or "premium" sound somewhere.

IF you know for SURE the head unit works, and the old one worked before, RECHECK the wiring job you did and the fuses. I bet the issue lies with one of them two.

 

yea i guess i dont have one. it probably is in the wiring. btw do u know how to reset the airbag light, haha?

 

Most factory amps are under the rear seat. There was someone on here that had a 00 or 01 that had a factory amp and sub built in to the spare tire. It was really cool looking. But to your question. Did the speakers work before you put the after market head unit in? I know you said you were sure the head unit worked.

 

If its a newer alpine check the blue wires. My x-305 was labeled "Power Antenna" and that needed plugged in for the amplifier in the radio to work. Just call alpine tech support. Knew right away what I did wrong.
