Addind to the fleet
Hey guys. I founds me a 89 XJ with 199K on her. No leaks. body appears to be in good shape. Has the 242 TC. Only thing PO is saying is wrong is that the ABS comes on periodically and the pedal gets soft, but it still stops. He said to give yourself extra time just in case it happens. Any hoot. He is asking 1400 for it. Deal or no deal? The break deal... could this be the booster going bad? I don't care for ABS so a power break swap could be in the future. What am I looking at there? Hard job? Expensive? or what ya know. Thanks ya'll and I look forward to hoarding all the SW Oregon XJ's.
edit: here is the Craigslist ad for pics of the Jeep.

So I talked the guy down to $1000. Which is ok with me because we needed the 2nd ride anyway. And well heck, can't complain about having another Jeep as my backup.

Ehh, its kinda a hard call. That many mile, but the Renixs are tuff. I got my 89 for 300 bucks, but the guy thought the motor was trash. Swapping the abs over to power isnt difficult at all, I did that to mine. The abs pump in my was totally shot. There is a write up I did awhile back in the tech section also. Main thing is to make sure its a deal to you. If she is straight as an arrow and runs great, then if it feels good do it.

See, I read all you guys on here talkin bout how cheap ya'll find XJ's for, but that's just not happening here. This was cheapest one listed on Craiglist. I'm diggin it. Once I seen it in person and realized it already has some kind of lift, spare rail on back door that folds out, nice hitch, and under the hood was clean as all get out. Couldn't believe how clean it was. Now I know, that doesn't mean that the PO didn't just go clean it down at the carwash, but I don't think that was the case. I dig it. It made the 1.5 hour trip back home like a champ. Hey last, how do u like your RC lift? I'm going to lift one of my Jeeps in December and am just getting folks' opinions. Thanks
