Default AC Compressor or Clutch going bad?

The AC in my 96 XJ quit on me yesterday. I popped the hood to see whats going on and it looks like the clutch is struggling to move. Can anyone tell from the video whats going on? I'm hoping I might get away with the shim removal trick?

It looks to me that the clutch plate is broken . If you remove the center bolt and use a 2 screwdrivers and pry off the front part you will see it is in 2 parts , it should be one piece .

You should be able to turn the clutch plate (the center part) by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If you feel binding or roughness you may have a bad bearing or internal compressor problem.
