A/C compressor going bad

A/C compressor going bad
Quick question for everybody. My compressor for my A/C (which never worked since I've owned my XJ) is rattling and squealing really badly so I figure it's time for a new one. I was going to go to the local pull a part tomorrow but I wasn't sure what year compressor would work with my 01 motor. Any help? I read somewhere saying that the 99-01 would work but I'm not 100% on that.
