Default Knock that doesn't change

What could be knocking in my engine that the speed doesn't increase with RPMS?

Oil pressure is 60+ cold, 25 warm idle, 40 while driving.

I don't know, but mine has been doing it for 5-6 years that I'm aware of. Just keep driving it and don't worry, I have 279,000 miles on mine.

Wouldn't the flexplate bolts being loose make the speed of the sound increase with RPMS?

It runs great, other than a slight miss which I think a good tuneup will solve. I just wish I knew what was causing this sound. I can't think of anything that would cause it

Why don't you just check the flexplate bolts since it's a known issue?

will do first thing tomorrow morning. honestly I hadn't checked it because when I think of flexplate bolts, I'm thinking of the bolts holding the flexplate to the crank. I thought those were the ones that come loose and didn't want to pull the transmission. that sound in his video sounds almost exactly like mine, so I will for sure be checking it

That was it. Thanks everyone!

Now I can hear every other knocking/rattling sound that it makes.

Exhaust leak
What sounds like a loose lifter (first XJ had 3 come completely unbolted all at once)
Shot motor and trans mounts letting exhaust hit crossmember

Wish I could just find a t18 ford small block bellhousing, I would go ahead with the v8/4 speed swap

I told my boss about the problem, he says it's my A/C compressor bearings. I'm pretty sure that's what it is. If not, I'll let you guys know.

Default gotta tick here

Hey guys...new to forum but not jeeps. I've had a few but this is a new one for me. I had a slight tick. I had replaced my header a few months befor after my edelbrock broke so I figured I'd check the bolts and did get improvment..but then the tick started to pick back up again so I grabed the longest driver I had and put it to the valve cover.I've done that trick lots and works good but it sounded like everyone of them was ticking. With a lot of hope I did an oil change with knock oil (high milage gtx), some knock stuff and a k@n filter to boost the pressure although it was fine. Then alittle injector cleaner in the gas tank..didnt do a thing. I'm baffled alittle and scared a lot!! Although I can do the work I really don't want to tear into it. After some searching I happen across this post..MY JEEP SOUNDS EXACTLY THE SAME!..ill be doing the flex plate deal in the morning..ill post my results. Hopefully my little story and some search words will help others find this cause I'm pretty confident this is the issue...for some maybe not but I woulda never thought to check the flex plate. A lot cheaper to buy thread lock than a complete head and still have a mysteries tick..

Very well could be flex plate bolts but I would put money on your lifters. Had the same problem on my 97. Checked everything to include flex plate bolts with no luck. Then popped the head off to do the rear freeze plug and since I was in there I put in new lifters and voilą, noise was gone and never came back. Have the same problem on my 96 now and once I finish up the wife's Taurus I will be doing the same thing to the 96. Hope this helps!!
