ABS module compatibility
Hello everyone, I was wondering if the abs control modules are year specific or do they cover a broader range of years.
I have a 96 Cherokee country with automatic transmission.
I have an abs light on the dash and tried using two different
scan tools to find out what the problem is but they will not connect with the ABS module. So I assume the module is bad. I have replaced a tone ring and sensor along with cleaning the others and I am getting a signal from them.
Thanks for your help, Mark

Don't feel alone! I too have a 96 Cherokee Country ( Neglected Nellie see other threads ) I've been wrestling with the persistent ABS light since 10/23 and I too replaced the CAB (from Rockauto $140) which changed, but did not remove the ABS light. In case you missed it initially, like I did, there is a gap on the rear sensors of .036 -.057 (FSM page 5-34) but not of the front. Don't expect any P-1234 codes from the OBD2 system. I used the Snap on MT2500 I bought (long story I'll spare you the gory details) to bleed the brakes which (along with the sensor gap) removed the hydraulic related codes, but I still have a circuit failure code which I don't understand. I found the Tevis manual on e-bay which boils down trouble shooting into a series of yes / no questions which appear related to tracking power point by point from the PDU / fuses / relays / HCM / acceleration switch / etc / the other components which I also don't understand. Electronics is NOT my long suit. The excerpts from the FSM 5-31 and 8W-35 may be helpful. Questions, touch back. Good Luck!
