Default ABS (fix or switch)

My 91 laredo has abs it turns out. About half the time when I hit the brakes, I get a weird nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn sound coming out of the passenger side of the engine bay for about 10 seconds. Is this like a pump assist or something? The brakes also feel a little funky, but they do work. Sometimes they feel smooth, while others it seems like the abs is doing some weird stuff. I have a parts rig with standard braking. Do you guys think I should switch to standard, or where can I start on troubleshooting the abs?

Oh, and by the way, this does have a 4.5 lift with 31s. The guy I got it from extended the brake lines. (could it be as simple as air in the lines?)

Thanks!

just pull the relay/fuses out that control the abs.

Okay, I pulled the fuses and relays and it seemed to work, no noise and the brakes seem to be working well. Will running the jeep like this cause any issues? Do I have a bad ABS pump?

Also, now my idle is a little funky. Did I need to keep some fuses in? On the drivers kick panel, there were 2 fuses 2Amps that read ABS IGN which I also pulled.

Thanks!

yea there are like 3-4 fuses and relays for the ABS, just pull them off and you should be fine. also unplug (and cut off if desired) the abs sensor on the axle near the disc brakes

I tried it and the brakes were working well for a few minutes, but shortly turned into next to nothing. I think it's the bendix system. I'm thinking that I'll switch the system out.
