reallllyyyy need to know if this is what I should be spending my money on to keep my engine ice cold.
should I pick up ANYTHING else? I'd like to do this all at once

plugged heater core. minimal flow in the radiator. is replacing the core the only way? because that would really suck

A good flush and that upgraded fan clutch should do the trick. Also make sure you have the whole fan shroud and it fits tight to the fan. Stock temp thermostat is important don't use a cooler one. As long as the system is clean and the elements I listed are in good working order it will cool fine. If you have to have more they make upgraded aluminum radiators designed to cool v8 swaps. Why are you buying a trans cooler? Do you tow a lot?

nope but it's only $60 for the trans cooler and it's not going to hurt anything.
I'd rather just pop it in there while I have everything apart.
a good flush for the heater core?

Flush it all. The radiator, the block and heater core.

forgot to mention rad is leaking for sure. it's gotta go. and I might as well fix everything I can while I'm in there
jeep sat for two years. I'm having trouble figuring what to do with the heater core though.
I read that you just open the firewall and flush it, but my buddy's sayin if it's plugged you gotta replace

Have you looked to see if you have a factory cooler all ready, that seems to be universal if you use it make sure you mount itt on pass side of rad that way theres constant air flow from mechanical fan at idle and stop and go traffic

I do have the factory cooler. and my mech fan only works when it wants to I've only gotten it to turn on a couple times for a few seconds only
I've just decided to assume that everything needs work, replace it all, and never look back
