Meaning in a sense it is a true '00/'01 exhaust.
But that looks like it might be Federal Emissions from the sticker.
You say you have the "One pre cat and one post cat" and I assume you mean the dual front cat.
But if that is a Federal Emission '00 then you would not have the dual front cat, where those 2 O2 sensors in the intake
manifold are would not be there (there would be bolts in those holes),
and might explain why you can find any connectors
on the engine harness to hook them up to.
No. No pre cats. Posted pictures of the y pipe. And posted pics of the two plugged in o2 sensors. The ones in the manifold were just dangling. I removed them from the old manifold and screwed them into the banks header. But there is nowhere to plug in the two that were dangling.

yes, I misunderstood your first picture of the head harness...none of those open connectors are o2 sensor connectors...they would be roundish with 4 round pins or sockets in each plug. Well you had to plug the holes in the manifold with something...might as well be o2 sensors. Im not too keen on the oil filter gasket on the that side of the adapter plate...it might be a little too soft and allow wobble when you try and crank off a stuck oil filter. The stock o-rings work well when properly installed and tightened but its worth a try I guess. A misconception is the two front "pre cats" are 2ndary cats....they are the main cats because the o2 sensors are before and after them...nothing monitors the secondary cat in front of the muffler on the cali emission vehicles When you put in the o2 sensors in the header...did you put a good hi grade -hi temp anti sieze on them?...you might want to take them out some day and will be impossible if you just installed them dry

Default Plugged

Yeah I pulled them out and plugged the holes with what looked to be oil pan plugs. Checked the thread size for o2 sensors and used anti seize on all the exhaust side stuff. I really don’t understand that whole o-ring issue in the ofa. It is really strange that the ofa won’t snug up when using a regular o ring. But as I said and tried to show in pics, that original seal is twice as tall as the replacement o rings and it will not seal with the regular o ring. That oil filter ring is square and sits down in the square groove of the ofa. When I tightened it against the block it seemed to seal up really nice. Compressed down to about 1/16th in. I will post a pic shortly. On the dangling o2 sensors, I figure that since it was running fine, didn’t throw a code, and passed inspection, they must not have been there. I hate running into something like that and not knowing for sure. But at this point the header holes are plugged and I am going to try to forget I ever saw those dangly bits. Thanks for your input.

Default Update

Got the engine back together and it is running smoother than butter. I do not have any exhaust codes. But I do have a check engine light. Unfortunately, it is one of those check engine lights that do not throw a code. So I still don’t think I can confirm 100% that it isn’t related to those “abandoned” O2 sensors.

If the CEL is on you have a code. What reader are you using?

If all your current o2 sensors are hooked up to their proper connections, then the o2 sensors just hanging have no purpose and cannot be the cause of anything....unless they are leaking

I can’t find this seal anywhere. The replacement the parts houses carry is a regular old o ring. The o-ring is so much shorter than the original seal, that when I tried reinstalling the ofa with the o ring, the bolt bottomed out before the o ring even contacted the block.

I know it really isn’t relevant to the o2 sensor issue, but just thought I would share with those of you who responded. It seems to me as a “newbie” that this is also a rare issue because I have not found anything on these flat seals anywhere. And I surely have not found one for sale anywhere. I thought about cutting the bolt down by 1/8 so that the o ring would seal before the bolt bottomed out. I also thought about doing the ofa delete. But I really didn’t like either of those options. So, last night I took the rubber seal out of a new oil filter and put it in place of the o-ring. I figured that seal was made for sealing an oil filter to the adapter and some people seal the oil filter directly to their block so it should seal the adapter to the block.

So, does the adapter not leak using that seal?

been To oreilky, autozone, and Napa. Three different t readers and no codes. Also ran the diagnostic by turning on key and holding down reset button. Ran through all numbers in the odometer and the gauge needles went through all the positions and no codes were displayed afterwards.
