So i wen out n did some mudding about two weeks ago drove home ok, washed it al up n the next day turned the key started for about 3 seconds n died off on me. Any info greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

 

When you washed it, did you spray the bottom of the truck under the engine? If so you may have shorted something out.

If I understood you correctly, the engine started and ran for 3 seconds, then died. If that's the case I would check the fuel system. Check for any exposed wires that could have shorted out if they got wet, ETC. Good luck!

 

I always leave my xj running when washing it. Then for about 10 min afterwards never a issue. I washed it once parked with engine off and had to replace my TPS.

 

Well u looked under no visible wires underneath nor un the engune bay area.......ima try the (css) n hopefully itll start
