Default 99 Jeep turning over but not firing - HELP!

Inline 6, 4.0 engine, 4WD

Jeep was running very rough and started jerking badly then just quit. Turns over but not firing. Put scanner on car and it coded with Ignition coil, changed that. Changed pickup sensor and rotor cap in distributor. Replaced CPS. After replacing the CPS it cranked right up I drove it up and down the road. Parked it for a few hours headed out and the jerking started all over again. Was in the driveway and put it in reverse and drove back to the house ran smooth in reverse. Put it back in drive and it jerked and cut off. Will only turn over - no firing. Changed the CPS a second time. No firing. At a loss. Any other suggestions? Been without car for almost a week. My daddy works on it for me. He is 68 and getting tired after a day of auto work. Trying to get troubleshooting answers online before tackling it again. Thanks in advance. We are at a loss. ~CM

Best thing would be to clear codes and see if it is setting any "new" codes. If there are any codes at all, you must concentrate on that circuit....

if its an automatic, might be trans problem....

also ensure all wiring connections were put back on really secure when you had those components replaced.

good luck, let us know what you find out!
