I use my old PCM to test if I am getting 14v or not and run for longer periods of time. The new PCM I only use for brief tests to make sure the issue is not solved and the PCM is now giving me issues.

 

If you can get your Jeep to the dealer, have them use their DRB III tool to check out your charging system. There are no FSM pocedures for diagnosing the charging system.

 

I'll bring it by tomorrow. When I hit high voltage the Jeep is also stuck in a higher gear. I have read other reports of people having the same issue but never found a solution the threads just die. I know the ground for the PCM and the tranny sensor are the same mount but could the sensor also be interfering with the PCM if its gone bad? Possibly shorting out and putting voltage to the ground?

This looks like it may be the solution. Has anyone used this? This only has IGN, FLD and Ground connections but the alt. has a Main line out, FLD and FLD+ coming out of it. Not sure the difference between the two FLD lines.

 

Installed new voltage regulator and so far so good!
