Default 99 4.0 auto temp and idle issues

Hey guys my 1999 sport XJ is having a weird issue, first off I live in Las Vegas,NV so it's bloody hot! My jeep usually runs around 220-230 in the summer, lately ever once in a while the temp gage will spike at 250 the check Gage's light comes on and a few seconds maybe a minute it will go back to normal. I thought maybe my fan was shutting off and coming back on so I checked it yesterday, I started the jeep turned the A/C on full blast and let it run for a few min... About 3 min of run time the temp spiked I lifted the hood and both my clutch fan and elec fan were working fine. I then wiggled some wires around at temp sensor, IAC and a few others thinking I may have a bad connection somewhere and no change. I turned off the A/C and a few seconds later the temp went back to normal. Also it's idling at around 1800-2000rpm with the A/C on and around 1300-1500 off which is also not normal I know.

Any suggestions, info would be greatly appreciated

The IAC controls the idle RPM. Recommend removing the IAC and cleaning out its port in the TB and cleaning its pintle.

I also recommend removing the TB and cleaning it with all sensors removed.

A new Felpro TB gasket can be purchased at most auto parts stores.

Edit: This doesn't address your other problems, just thought I'd toss in my 2 cents on the IAC.

I will give that a shot and I figured out the cooling issue, I had an air pocket in the system got that straightened out.

If your engine is getting too hot the computer will kick up the idle to cool it down by spinning the clutch fan faster.
How does your coolant look? Any crap in it?
I just fixed my getting hot issue and it was because my radiator was clogged with stop leak that the PO put in.

The radiator was just flushed two weeks ago. Yesterday i found an air pocket in system did a vacuum fill and she runs cool as ever now. But my idle it's still high especially when i run the A\C 2000rpm so tomorrow I'll try to clean the iac and the throttle body.

also check for any vacuum leaks. that would kick up the idle.
