Default 98 XJ running rough

Drive home from work yesterday it drove normal. Went to start it couple hours later and it was running really rough and stalled. Could smell gas out of the tail pipe. Check engine light came on. P0123. Replaced with new sensor from oriellys. Didn't fix it. Clear the code and it comes back in a few seconds. I can unplug the tps sensor while it is running and the idle will smooth right out and run normal.

I recently about 2 weeks ago changed the plugs to champion coppers and clean the iac. But ran good until yesterday. Good fuel pressure. Starts Everytime just runs really rough and stalls with the tps plugged in. I'm gonna have oriellys swap me sensors to see if the new one was at fault.

Any ideas?

Continue to trust the code if it continues to pop.

But remember that a TPS code means something is wrong with that particular "circuit" and the circuit includes wiring and connectors as well as the sensor itself, so perform a close inspection on those.

What brand sensor did you get from O'Reillys? I've not had much luck with an aftermarket TPS.

It's the BWD brand one with the lifetime warranty.
I just don't see why I would just up and crap out when I parked it was running excellent. I'm gonna mess with it and inspect all the wiring when I get home.

Also my Airbag light is on and I have no cruise control nor a horn. The horn started randomly going off the other day without depressing the steering wheel button. I read somewhere that the clockspring is somehow tied into or something. Could that have anything to do with it? I'm assuming mine is no good to begin with.

I pulled fuse 26,27 for the air bag.
It's actually idling normal. I'm assuming it was the clockspring?
