98 xj piston swap

Default 98 xj piston swap

I Jus got a 98 xj and the number 1 piston has a hole in it. My question is would it hurt to put a piston in it from my 93 witch slung a rod (#4)

you could probably do that if you want to be safe swap the rods on the pistons

Just remember when you buy the new rings, to get them for the 93 pistons, the older rings are a standard measurement, the newer 96+ use a metric measurement for the thickness.

The rings are in great shape on the 93 piston. The 93 had 160000 on it when it came apart but Idk how much hell the boy that had it put it thu

96 was one of the interchange years for pistons, where the wrist pin became press-in. you can't use that older piston for fear of putting the crank out of balance, and because you can't swap the rods easily.
