'98 XJ no left side audio
Hey all and hello.
like the title says, no sound out of the left side, front or back.
yes I tried the balance
speakers check out. I can't imagine there are fuses for left and
right hand side.
Any tips for how to track this problem down? Does each side share
the same ground? I'm wondering if its a broken wire.. but what're the
odds that two broken wires take out left side only?
Thanks!

Open the front door and trace the wires from your speakers into the bundle by the hinges ,and look through there for a broken wire.

X2,The spade connector on my speakers used to vibrate loose all the time,I got tired of pulling the door panels off to fix em every 3 months so the last time I did it I soldered them to the speakers no more loose connections

Stock Chrysler radio. Left speakers weren't working when I got this thing.
Is the sexy 6 preset button unit w/tape deck! CD changer under passanger
seat.
The rubber boot that jumps the door hinge is perfect.. so I didn't think to
look inside. I tear it open see whats going on inside.
Thing thats bugging me is its both LH speakers -- I mean, what're the odds?

well I checked from the radio connector to the front drivers side speaker and
I've got a good connection. 5-6 ohms or so going down the connector, through
the speaker and back again.
It looks like the radio itself has crapped out on the left hand side.
This stinks.
This jeep is for going where no man has gone before (in a 2WD sedan
) .. I'd
rather put the $100 into something else and not a new radio.. but if it was just
some wiring, I would've liked to get some sound out of all sides.
ah well.
Thanks all!

Mine was doing the same thing, I like the look of the factory radio so i search around and bought another one. That fixed the problem. I am sure it will go out again somewhere down the road. When my old radio would cut some speakers out like that. i would give it a good hammer fist and it would usually fix the problem temporarily.
