Default '98 Transfer Case in '94

Bought a used transfer case out of a '98 Xj to swap into my '94 rather than rebuilding mine. I did this for a couple reasons, I can rebuild the '98 case in my garage and toss it in when it's finished rather than putting my daily driver out of commission the case I got only had 80k on it o it doesn't need much as far as rebuilding, and because I'm tired of screwing with transfer cases.... the one in my rig now has done nothing but leak and blow out bearings. I noticed that there are a few differences between the two cases. Both cases are np231's.

My questions are,

1. This is a direct swap, correct?
2. Do I need to get '98 driveshafts to run this case or will my '94 shafts work?
3. What's best for sealing the TC? I usually use Permatex Gasket Maker but i want THE BEST seal I can get.... like I said, I'm beyond frustrated with TC leaks. Every time I fixed one leak on my current case another leak opened up a week later.

Thanks for your help!

I've been told it will bolt right up. I donlt know about the drive shafts. I think you can swap the output shafts from the old transfer case to the new.

I'm pretty certain it will bolt up aswell but the driveshaft thing has me worried. Swapping my old output shaft into the new case wont work for this one.... my current transfer case is in POOR shape. Not to mention I want this new case all buttoned upand ready to swap in right away. I only have one day a week off so it has to be a quick job.

Thanks for the reply

I belive you will need the rear shaft, after 96 the rear output/tailstock was changed. Your 94 shaft slip yoke portion will go into the tcase/seal. the 98 will have an exposed slip yoke...

Hmm... can anybody else add to this? I saw that the whole tailshaft setup is different, which is why I decided to ask questions.
