Default 98 cherokee front passenger axle Q

I'm going to be replacing my front pass side axle tomorrow i have one slight problem. The axle at the auto store does not look like mine, theirs has a rubber boot on it as to where mine does not and i don't believe it ever did. Mine is open and you can see the joints and all but theirs is not. So what do i do???? I even looked at other stores and the same problem is there. Suggestions would be great I am lost on this one someone please help me before tomorrow?!.

It sounds like they are selling you one that has a CV joint....it sounds like you have a u-joint axle...they are NOT interchangeable.

I work in the morning and I would be glad to call you with more info...if you want to send me a PM with a phone number I will call you around 9:30am.

If you could post a picture I can tell you what you have.

if its only on the passenger side. Jack it up and grab the tire at 12 and 6 and shake it. If it moves then you probably have a bad wheel hub unit. If thats the case simply do the same job and just replace the hub with the new one. I just did mine and i have alway thought that my wheel was a little unbalanced but that was the bearing the whole time. I just didnt know until mine started grinding driving the crap out of me haha til i replaced it then smooth as butter
