Hi I have a wrecked 97 xj and was wondering what I would need to do to fit the 97's hatch onto my 89. I know the hinges are different but what else would need to be modified or changed to make it fit? Has anyone done this or considering doing this?

 

no, it won't fit without a lot of work. Anything is possible, IMO this would be more modification than it's worth.

 

Pretty much everything would need to be modified. The body lines in the back of the late model XJ are totally different.
