Default 97 Cherokee 4.0 engine miss and using water

Just purchased a 97 Cherokee sport 4.0 and it has some engine trouble. It was pretty cheap so I took a chance. I'm thinking that I will have to look into the head but any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 200,000 miles and very sound interior and body. Engine has a bad miss especially at a low rpm. The engine has a brand new distributer cap plugs and wires. It is using water and can clearly be seen through the exhaust. Radiator is pretty dirty inside and the reservoir makes a loud gurgling sound when it is shut off. The electric fan doesnt come on when i turn on the ac either. I think the jeep may have been overheated though when running the engine sounds great without any ticks or pecks. Other than the miss lol. Also the tach and speedometer take spells where they fall to zero and then work. Guess I've got some work on my hands. Just dreading tearing into the engine!

Pulled the plugs? I'd be all over head gasket... Before driving it any more

Yea. It has new plugs as well. Guess the guy tried a tune up and failed. I'm hoping you're right. I don't think it's a valve either. Won't pull a dollar bill in at the exhaust when it misses. Which may be a good thing.

I was suggesting a plug as to pull the plug from the missing cylinder, and the respective injector plug, and see if it kicks water out

Good idea. I will to a temp check on each cylinder and pull whichever plug needed. Will repost. Thanks
