96 xj no spark

Default 96 xj no spark

So I have a 1996 xj classic 2wd 4.0 i6 I drove it to the store the other night parked it when I got home next mourning went to go to work and it will not start it is turning over I have plenty of fuel it's getting fuel the coil gets power when I turn the key on but then when I crank it I have no spark so I replaced plugs wires cap rotor coil and still same thing no spark

NSS, i think. it will let you crank it, but not turn it on. have you tried starting it in N?

Is there fuel coming out of the throttle body or intake? Check your air filter and see if there is gas getting on it

Check small 30amp fuse under hood. Its your spark fuse. Mine blows all the time look for it.

All fuses are good. Nss= neutral safety switch?

Did you Try ur cps mine would just turn over and over without starting I had gas and newish plugs but the cps is on top of ur bell housing on the driver side its kinda easy to get to and its a cheap part too

O and before you pull it out wiggle it and try and start it should start unless its really dead lol

And I can smell the gas in the exhaust I have pressure at the fuel rail

ok, it wont start in N. thats good (in the sence it helps diagnose the issue) yes, nss is the N saftey switch. pull it, clean it and if that dont work, hit the JY for a replacment. and if you get a used replacement, id probably clean that one too...

the CPS is a good call too. a pretty common issue. if the NSS isnt it, then id vote CPS!

Its only like 12$ too well mine was I was in walmart parking lot hit a speed bumb and she died mom was like omg what's wrong lmao
