96 xj 4.0 stalled while driving, low oil pressure light on
So i have a 1996 cherokee 4.0 5speed. Brother was driving to work and he said the Oil pressure light came on (dummy gauges) and it stalled out. Then he couldn't start it. got home tonight and looked at it, it will crank but not start. Initially after some googling i thought it was the ASD relay because i got some CEL's ( P201-P206). Not really sure which direction to go in. Thinking it may be the oil pump or the whatever drives the oil pump ( Camshaft synchro or distributor ?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

The Crankshaft Position Sensor is not in the distributor, it is on the bell housing of the transmission.
Also, this is just an educated guess. Wait to see what other members suggest.

The oil light will come on when the engine dies and the key is still "on".
Those codes mean a failure in the fuel injector circuit for cylinders 1-6. Take a look at the connectors, injectors, harness..

so at this point th eoil pressure light turns off after cranking and no CELS. i put in a new CPS,but it still will not fire. i am still not getting power at the distributor, so at this point i don't know what it could be, im thinking it might be the PCM tbh, anyone have any suggestions ?

so i got the damn thing running. was my o2 sensor wiring shorting on each other, removed o2 sensor temp. ( will get a new one) and replaced fuse and fires right up now. However, i think i might have got the distributor in wrong, sounds like it might be idling high, anyone got any pointers on how to fix that ? or is it as simple as repulling the distributor and getting it to sit correctly at the 11 o'clock position?

If it starts and runs without missing/backfire more than likely it in the right position. You can expect the engine to idle a little high initially while the ECM re-calibrates.
Good luck~
