My son took a direct hit on the right front wheel of my 96 Cherokee Country.
The axle housing is bent, probably will replace the whole axle. How do I identify the correct gear ratio from the VIN of a junker?

look for the tag on the axle. unless it's rusted off or got ripped off, it will be bolted to one of the differential cover bolts and will tell you what the gear ratio is

If you contact Jeep using this link they will email you a build sheet. If everything on the Jeep is stock this will tell you what it had.
