96 cherokee running rough
so i have a 96 xj that i just recently solved a charging problem with only to develop another problem. It idles a little rough revving from 600 to 1100 rpms and bounces then when i try to put it under power it backfires spits and boggs down, I can get it to run smooth if i floor it but it still back fires every now and again.. now when i try and run at a constent speed it almost feels like it build up back pressure then starts spitting and popping..
I am thinking throttle position sensor only cause of the bouncing idle, but figured it could also be the cap and rotor.... any ideas???

Takes twenty minutes and two cans of throttle body cleaner to completely clean out tb and iac. Use a toothbrush. Total cost: $5 at the store.

Well I just did the IAC / throttle body cleaner, found here:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f30/ho...le-body-76947/
Pretty straight forward took me like 30 mins to do. I took off the whole throttle body, and then the IAC. Made it SOO much easier.
I got a can of throttle body cleaner at autozone for like 4 bucks. Mine idles a little bitter now actually I'll post some pictures if you guys want them.

Ok have an update for this old post!!!!
Turned out that the dumbass before decided it was a good idea to put a 94 gas tank on a 96 Cherokee........ DUMBASS!!! for those who don't know a 94 has a fuel pressure Regulator on the fuel rail and a 96 is in the fuel tank on the pump... So I had no regulator.... That sucks... So the garage I went to told me it would be fine to just switch the fuel rail to a 94.....got it at a junk yard for 15$ so I chose that option. Jeep runs fine but I'm wondering if I should just switch back to the 96 fuel system or not??? Any thoughts would be cool
