so i just changed my backspeakers today and bestbuy's website says my speakers are 5 1/4 but today i just put in 6 1/2 and they fit perfectly... im sure the 5 1/4 woulda been fine, but eh i ono. just figured id throw this out there.
maybe the front speakers are 5 1/4 !!!

 

Best Buy sucks when it comes to car audio/video. They are prob the reason my new Commander burned up, the info they provided twice to me was wrong and the installation was incompetent. Customer service by the company after the fact was **** poor as well.

My apologies to you who work for them, I had a baddddd experience.

 

Are you talking about hatch speakers or Soundbar?

Hatch speakers are 5.25, but can fit larger speakers.

 

im guessing its the soundbar, where the light is in the back.

 

i have a 96 cherokee country edition and my stock speakers in the front doors and rear roof were 5 1/2, i replaced them with nice 5 1/2 infinitis($100 a pair) and i dont have any in my hatch, but im thinking about cutting the factory slots out there and putting 6x9s in, plus im buying a 10" sub mounted in a box and 1000watt amp for $120 to put in the back area next to my tools and other crap! lol first id like to get a 130amp alternator and dual battery setup with the second battery in a special box in the rear.

 

good luck with all that, that will sound badass by the time yer done. i can only afford to do little by little. i just put sony xplode 220w 6 1/2s in my so und box, i think thats wut its called, i checked my hatch theres no room for speakers, bu tthere is a vent type of deal there, but no speakers so i might just have to fill the gap with sum 5 1/4s. i still have the stock speakers in the front door panels, ill be changing those too, but again little by little. but lemme tell u, there is sucha huge improvement now i put those xplodes in.

 

yea best buy does blow, i wouldnt go there for any kinda install, just for the product...

 

i just redid my entire sound system and best buy is terrible! they were tellin me stuff that was soo far off it was unreal. Ur sound bar speakers should have been 5.5's same with the front door speakers. BUT, that doesnt mean that bigger wont fit. The holes will take up to 6.5's. I pulled out my stock fronts n put in 6.5 Pioneers and took everything out of the back sound bar and ran the wiring down to two Sony Xplod 6X9's i've got boxed in the trunk.. she sounds beaut now.

Btw.. if ur lookin for a deck.. i highly recommend Alpine. I got my CDA-9886 at best buy and its unreal.. kinda pricey but definately worth it. install isnt difficult either.

I've had good and bad luck with Best Buy, so I'm on the fence with them. As for anything electrical I personally do my homework and do the install myself so If there is something wrong its my fault, which rarely happens.

 

Agreed.. u gotta figure no matter what u screw up, there is always someone out there who can fix it. and it never hurts learnin how to do somethin new.. highly recommend doin installs urself.
