Default 95 XJ won't stay running

Sorry I've been trying to search forums and the net but not finding any good info. I had a bad fuel pump. Or so I thought. Well, it was bad but that's not the entire issue. I replaced the fuel pump and it still wouldn't fire up. 1995 XJ, 4.0, auto. I had tested the relay and it was clicking and sending power but I realized it was cutting power after it started. I could jump the relay and it will run fine. So I was reading that the PCM sends that signal and if it doesn't sense cps after 5 seconds or something it cuts power. So I tested cps but it has infinite resistance and is not killing gauges and cel so it seems to be ok? Could it be PCM or is there something else to check?

Check the fuel pump resister bolted to the fender on the driver's side up front. It looks like a long square ceramic bar with a spade connector on each end. Pull the 2 spade connectors and join them together. The pump should run then. The resistor is there to reduce the pump's running voltage after start to make it run quiet.

Not seeing anything like that. But I pulled the dash off and found a bunch of unplugged connectors. I need a schematic lol.

Here's the resistor in the engine bay.

OP has a 1995. I thought they stopped using the ballast resistor after 1993.
