Default 95 starting trouble

My 95 is really weird on starting. Its weird cause whenever im home or anywhere but school, it starts within a second. But when I leave school in the afternoon it takes anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds to start. I have assumed it could be fuel pressure bleeding down after long time periods, but it always cranks up fine every morning after sitting all night and thats longer than it sits daily at school. Ive tried the key on key off priming the fuel pump a few times and that never changes the starting time. Also not sure if it could be related but whenever it takes longer to crank there is always a distinct gas smell when I shut the jeep off at home. My cat is shot I know for sure and my gas milage is dropping but my gauge is like 4 gallons off so I cant be for sure
Thanks in advance.

Could be leaking fuel injector.

Get that cat fixed too.

Cat hopefully will be replaced soon. Would a leaking injector cause the long crank times? Occasionally it will misfire after cranking if ive recently driven it too.

jeeps are known for a long cranking period, but not 10 seconds. I would start with changing the cat first if you know that it is bad. then check your fuel lines and make sure that all the connections are tight and check your injectors for leaks. also check your spark plugs and the cap and rotor in your distributor.

got acess to fuel pressure gauge sounds like leaking injector overnight has time for gas to evaporate sitting short periods causing a flooding situation ...just a thought .

1. Get fuel pressure gauge (they can be rented from many parts stores)

2. Access a factory service manual

3. Follow the flow chart for fuel pressure testing.

Your answer is likely going to be found with the above.
