Default 95 cherokee xj wheel question

I have a 95xj 2wd and I'm going to california to pick up my daughter. I need a spare rim and tire. I know grand cherokee rims will fit but I just need a cheap steel rim. All the grands here at the wrecking yards are aluminin. So what rims will work? I heard that rangers and bronco 2 work. Whould some one know this?

Any early Explorer, Bronco II and Ranger rims will bolt up. Also any XJ, TJ, YJ wheels will work.

Check out this chart.

You're looking for 5x114.3

Any 5x4.5 rim will fit. That is 5 lug holes with 4.5 inchs from 1 hole center to the hole center of the third hole (counting the first).

No, that's wrong.

It's a 4.5 inch diameter circle drawn through the centerline of EACH bolt hole.

It's a spare. Why does it matter if it's steel or aluminum?

Salvage yards charge more for aluminum wheels, at least in my area.

Your right aluminum rim is $50 +$10 core and a steel one is $5.99+$2.99 core. I looked at that chart and the rangers and bronco 2 have the same bolt pattern and lug size but the center bore is different. Jeep is 71.5 and ranger/bronco 2 is 70.3m does the center bore matter?

Ford stuff might not fit because of the smaller center hole.

There should be Jeep stuff in a salvage yard somewhere. People have also not mentioned the offset. Some wheels, especially aftermarket ones, will stick out quite a bit sometimes.

Ok, so I'm sorry if I gave some "incorrect" information earlier, it wasn't on purpose. That being said, while my method isn't exact, it's fast and easy and will get you close enough. It's how my dad taught me to do it over 30 years ago and it hasn't failed me any time I've ever gone looking for a wheel at a JY and was in a hurry.

Ok I found 2 cherokee stock steel rims for $30 with brand new allseason tires. Ok the tires he put on them are 205/75/15. Are those to small to run on interstate if I need for a spare? I'm going from utah to california.

What is your tire size now? Ideally, the spare should match or you will get a lean and a pull.
