hello everybody.
so today I went to align my xj and they told me that I needed to change my upper control arms. I'm actually trying to save a buck. I will be driving about 20 miles daily or less. should I change the arm and bushings or just the bushings?
thanks

Just replace the entire arm, they arent that expensive. Use a balljoint press to press the bushings out of the axle once the arms are off, and to press the new ones in. Clean up the holes once they are out, it shouldnt take much. Make sure the new bushings go in straight. A little lube might help. Engine oil, for example. Its not all that difficult, just cumbersome. Chock the tires, and watch your head under there.
If your uppers need done, what do the lowers look like? I assume the shop meant the rubber is shot. If the uppers are shot, the lowers probably arent far behind. Unless theyve been done already?
