My check engine light keeps coming on after driving about 5-10 minutes and every time I check it's a Code 41 which is the alt field etc etc but yet at no time does the voltage gauge on my dash ever show below near 14 volts while I am running. I used the tester at work and it showed no problems with the alternator or battery. Can anything else cause this continual code? Maybe just have to clean all the grounds and connections?

 

Yeah, a failing alternator. I've done the code 41 dance before, it's the alternator.

 

I agree. Code 41 is almost always the front end of an alternator failure. 99.18763% of the time anyways....

Keep us updated but Vegas money is on that alternator.

 

The brushes get worn down and don't make good contact. Just replace it and be done with it.
