Default 1998 motor to a 1999

Will a 1998 4.0 fit in my 1999 4.0 Cherokee sport automatic? Do in need to change the intakes? What else needs changed? Thanks. If this has been discussed, could you please point me in the right direction. Searching on my phone is aggravating, and uneventful!

Nope you're fine. Bolt it up. If you have thenewer intake I'd just swap it anyway.

What broke exactly? What needs replacing?

Blew a head gasket on my original motor at 244,000. Found one out of a junkyard for 400. Supposed to be about a hundred thousand on it.

Default engine swap

Hi Bill here , I just did the same swap use the oil sending unit from the 99 the 98 will not fit on the harness end and also the starter on the 99 is shorter I used the 99 ., other than the length of the starter not really sure what is different between the two years?? Everything else was the same I did use the flywheel (flex plate) from the 99 just put it on the 98 block when it was in the air, not a bad day.. good luck Bill
