im not sure about this,but i thought 91 front axles had the vacuum thing,i dont have one,does this mean it was swapped out? or was it a package from the dealership? the PO had this jeep from 91-10,so i reckon she could have swapped it out,but im not sure

i went and looked at my 90 and i dont have it, and i know i ahve the origional. so you should be fine.

If your 91 has the NP242 Fulltime 4WD TC it won't have the vacuum disco. If your 91 has the NP231 Partime 4WD TC it will have the vacuum disco....unless like you say the PO could have trashed the axle and somebody swapped in a non disco or newer axle. In 92 ALL XJs went to the non disco D30 whether they were fulltime or partime 4WD.

the one you have turns every thing all the time mine i can turn my drive shaft freely when not in 4x4 yous is locked
