91 xj 4.0 Wont start

Went out to start my jeep this morning and it will not start. when i turn the key the first time there were 3 hard knocks so i stopped. now any any time i try and turn over my jeep it only sits there and turns over the engine dosnt grab at all

It started running then the 3 knocks? Or it was just cranking when the knocks occurred?

it was cranking when the 3 knocks happened

Might have broken the teeth off the starter? It will still spin but wont catch, hopefully not the fly wheel. Check it out.

Well I got it started! i had to put the accelerator to the floor and it stumbled to start.

What dose that mean is wrong? Any ideas?

iac or tps, test and clean them both
