i put the 99 intake in mine along with a APN header and 63mm TB.

did i notice a difference? yea. was it worth all the headaches i ran into swapping over with a new belt routing and PS pump as well as blowing fuel lines and injector seals? no. not in the least. if anything, just do a bored TB. i only felt accomplished bc i replaced the motor mounts and they were beyond shot.

No, the 99 is a curved runner, 98 and older are the straight runner style.

i have put an 98 moter in my 91 and instead of leaving on the newer intake i went ahead and used my old intake. it seemed like it had bigger ports. i would suggest using your orignal intake.

I have read that 99 and later are "improved" and more desirable.

I wonder if everything hooks up the same with no fabrication?

I have not read of a horsepower increase, though.

The exhaust from a 99 will not work on a 98 unless you are lucky to get one made in the very first part of 99 ,they changed the head and intake to comply with emisions, they are not as good as the 98,you can use 91-98 if you want to have an exact fit. You can use the exhaust from an 91-98,stay away from 87-90 as they exhaust different.
The intake gasket for an87- 98 and 99 are even different, look it up.

I always heard mid-99 was the change-over date also. Oddly enough mine has the curved manifold but has a manufacture date of 2-99 on the door sticker.
