89 XJ starts then must be cranked 2 times before it starts again...
Hi all I have an 89 Cherokee Pioneer. 4.0, inline 6, 4x4. Having a problem with her turnover. She starts right away at first but after I drive her and try to start her again it takes to long cranks. She's sputtering a bit. But when she gets going she goes. I have replaced plugs, air filter and cover, cap and rotor. Did oil change and ran Lucas oil and fuel injector threw her. I'm wondering if it's the fuel pump, starter or Crank shaft. Any help would be nice.
Thank you
Thank you

If it were the starter you'd have cranking issues. Does it turn over at normal speed?
Crankshaft wouldn't make much sense at all. Fuel pressure would be a good place to look, particularly to see if you have an injector bleeding down and flooding the cylinder at shutdown.

A fuel pressure test is in order as Radi suggests.
Click on the pink link in my signature and do the stuff outlined in Post #1. Many times the problem is poor grounds.
If you want to test your Crankshaft Position Sensor, click on Post # 7.
Post # 3 is always a good idea.

I used to have a 96 ZJ and I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Mine got to the point where it wouldn't start at all, I let it go too far before changing it. It would be my guess that it's the CPS

She turns over right away at first. After I drive her, turn her off and start her again that's when the problem starts. She'll turn over after I hold the initial crank for about 3-5 secs. It always takes 2 turns. I did the fuel pressure test and it seems fine.
