89 xj no start
I have stock 1989 xj Cherokee with 4.0 engine. Will not start unless you pour a capful of gasoline into the throat of the throttle body. It will run and drive if you do that but idles at about 2K rpms. Just started this suddenly a couple days ago. Anyone seen this?

I don't know much about the older Cherokees, but the first thing I would look at is the fuel pump. I believe you have a ballast resistor on the fender wall that often causes grief. It goes bad so you don't get power to the fuel pump. Since it's not essential, you can just bypass it and see if that helps. Cruiser54 has a TON of good tips for the older Cherokees on his site. You might find something useful there.
