89 cherokee headlight burnt out
I was just wondering if this is something that I should be worried about I hit a deer a few months ago lucky it was just its head that bounced off my front passenger quarter panel near the tail light.
so a few months went by noticed one day after being pulled over I had a low beam out lucky I did not get a ticket so I went and replaced it cleaned up the connector I though decent 6 months later burnt out already again it seems?
Would too many bumps have caused this or maybe water getting in around the cracked plastic trim when it rains maybe the alternator??
Should I be worried or just call 3 time a charm and say maybe defective bulb.
I was thinking that I could somehow try and seal up around the head light so no water could get in if that's whats happening.
I plan on ordering a new plastic trim piece at some point hopefully its not something worse

I had numerous problems like the one you have. Fixed it in all manners multiple times. Finally just aimed my headlights low and left my brights on... for 2 years now. Works great.

the plastic trims have been damaged on both our xj's and never had a problem with that, it rains a lot in WA still works fine, perhaps you have a damaged wire somewhere thats just barely holding tight. i would check for voltage at the connector to be sure its the headlamp.

Had a similar issue with my VW. I think newer bulbs maybe just aren't build the way the used to be. That's part of the reason I am switching to LED headlights

i dont know my dad looked at the bulb after i unplugged it and plugged it in a couple times and he said he thought one prong on the light did not appear to have any scratches on it except from the factory and he said it seemed to be the prong for the low beam
so idk i put some bulb grease on and plugged it back in went and picked up a new connector plug drove for maybe 25 mins and new headlight went out so once again burnt out.
From what i just saw when i got out it looked like it had white smoke in it and the other one looked clear really weird im just glad no fire.
So ya high beam works fine as did with the last 2 just low beam burnt out so idk i hope its just the connector
