probably good enough then, when I tightened mine down I just did it until it would spin and then moved on to the next, solved my clanking for now. I'm sure it will happen again and next time I'll do it right with some loctite.

Sucks that didn't solve your problem...

Here's a little read. The QUALITY of the anti-drainback valve is important. Some filters, like Fram do not have good ones.

Did you check the flex plate for cracks while checking the bolts on the torque converter? They're commonly cracked if the torque converter bolts are lose for too long... Not fun if it is as you have to drop/push the tranny back a bit to replace the flex plate

i replaced that oil filter and it stopped the starting noise thats for sure, when i checked the bolts i didnt check for cracks but i dont remember catching any but not a bad idea to drop it down and check it out. i have to replace my tranny soon anyways becuase i lost reverse when i was four wheelin, i also have to replace the exghuast manifold or the gasket somethings definitly bad there. il try and find a video or something to show you guys the noise its really hard to describe exactly what its doing

Good call Cruiser. Canning the Orange Can Of Death, and getting something with a good anti-drainback valve defiantly hit the mark it seems.

I cringe at the thought of how may 4.0 Jeep engines have been destroyed over time from dry starts caused by Fram's crappy filters.

well the filter worked for a day or two but now the dry start is back and the clattering has seem to gotten worse

Drain out a quart of oil and replace it with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil.
