I have an '89 XJ we bought to rebuild. All is well except the alternator wiring. The original plug into the alternator was cut off previously and the book hasn't been helping. I found a six pin oval plug that seems to have the correct wires but the colors don't match the book. I have a brown/blk and a green/wht. I don't see a yellow wire. The red wire goes to the starter relay. My question is where do the two wires coming off of the alternator pigtail go and what color should they be?
No experience with Jeeps prior to this, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks. So I’m looking to find the yellow wire that should connect to one of the fields but can’t locate its origination point. I think it comes from the ignition switch, but where should it be under the hood?
Yellow is a Key on Power lead. It connects in a series of other splices and other connectors to the ignition switch. The tan wire becomes a tan/grn wire after the 6 pin connector and goes to the cluster.
