I have purchased an 88 XJ out of state. I had a licensed auto appraiser do a full inspection. He found one mechanical issue, the left turn signal is not working. I am flying out later this month to pick up the Jeep and drive it home. The first question, looking through the parts catalog, it appears that the turn signal relay is a Chrysler part number, 3837 161. Does anyone know if that is the correct part number? Second question, that part number on google brings up various relays that are various form and pin configurations, so I am not comfortable purchasing the relay until I see it and can match it up. These seem to be a ubiquitous part? Have you found this relay at most part stores? Aside from bulb holder corrosion, ground wire, relay, fuse and turn signal switch, anything else to look for? I am going to take some basic hand tools and a multimeter with me. Any specialty tools that might be handy? Thanks so much for your help.

It's a standard old 2 prong flasher. Common as belly buttons.
Also interchangeable with the hazard flasher.
I would be more inclined to investigate the left front bulb/socket. all ya need is a phillips screwdriver.
