I just joined, and was wondering if anyone knows about the wagoneer model XJ's and their value and or how rare are they. I hear some folks call these woodies, due to their distinctive simulated woodgrain panels. I have not seen many of these in my area. I just bought a 87 that has 4 headlights, which I have only seen photos of. Thanks

There aren't many of those left here in the midwest. Rust and all.... I always thought those were tough, good looking vehicles. I keep looking but all I find are basket cases beyond any reasonable sort of restoration.
What it's worth is tough to say. So much depends on condition and demand..if it's in nice condition and there aren't many left where you are- adjust upwards. It will only become more rare as time goes on.

Got pics?

He is talking about the wagoneer. Like mine. Not grand wagoneer lol

I picked mine up for like... 1200/1400. Something like that.

it's not a grand wagonner
thanks for the response! I have a grand wagoneer, but the one I'm asking about is a wagoneer limited, built on the the XJ platform. you can google XJ wagoneer limited, and see pics. I now have 3 of these, 6 regular XJ's, and 4 comanches, (MJ's), and Texas rust free! I don't know if I posted this in the right location.

If you currently own 3 of them, I'd say that they arent very rare at all...
Seriously - You own 9 XJ's and 4 MJ's and it has just now occured to you to find out what a used Cherokee is worth?
Here in La, anything that runs and has a clear title can be sold for about 1 grand. If the AC works, make it 1500...

really?
please...I know the value of a regular XJ's. these are fairly rare...see if you can find one!!! I have been looking for the 4 headlight style wagoneer limited with simulated woodgrain panels for about 5 years! another way to tell them apart from a reg XJ is the solid red tail lights, not the red/yellow tail lights, thanks.

Because they are so rare (made from 87-90) and the fact that it is just a cherokee limited with a different from clip and tailights... the value is pretty much the same. If yours has the stock dana 44 axle, its worth more.

Mine came from the factory with a 44 and 373 gears in it. So its a little more than a reg cherokee due to the want of the 44 and the gears. Other than that, they are the same.

And another thing. Dont bother trying to get a build sheet. Those were the amc-chrysler take over years, and no standards were met.
