for 400 bucks you could put a used engine in it and be way ahead of the game. heres my advice. bring a compression tester and ask if it would be ok to test the engine, if its nothing big he'll let you. then you know what your dealing with.

Here's a $350 1992 Cherokee. I found it on craigslist and I am sure it would have sold along time ago if he knew the engine it had in it. He had it listed as a 2.5 6 cylinder. It wasnt until I looked at it and pointed out that it's a 4.0 HO 6 cylinder NOT a 2.5

The exterior pics are before I washed & waxed it. Now it doesnt look half bad except the missing fender and oxidation on the hood. The interior pics are after I cleaned it. Apparently they had kids who liked Mcdonalds french fries, Red vines, Capri suns, And scones from Starbucks. I followed the stench until I found the items under the rear seat lol. Now it no longer has that weird odor
