85 Cherokee tranny

looking at buying an 85 Cherokee with a rebuilt engine. Guy says the tranny is completely shot. how much, and how hard is a tranny swap? either auto to auto, or auto to manual. I would prefer the auto to manual. also any ideas on cost?

What do you have in there now? Engine? Transmission? Can't really tell you about a swap without knowing what you have....
